Welcome to the Tukwila Fire Department
As the Fire Chief for the City of Tukwila, I am fortunate to lead a group of extremely dedicated first responders. Without a question, our Fire Department personnel are some of the best professionals I have had the privilege to serve with during my fire service career.
The department’s focus over the next several years is to continue to prepare our personnel for the future. This includes the apprenticeship program for our new firefighters, and leadership training for our senior team members. Each day our personnel are in the community engaging to build trust and confidence with those that work, play, and reside in Tukwila. We invite you to get to know your firefighters better by approaching them, taking the time to understand what we do, so we may earn your trust. One of our fundamental values is based in fire prevention. Our Fire Marshal’s Office prides itself in being responsive to our businesses and community. Preventing loss of life and property is the main effort of our Fire Marshal’s. Predicting, preventing, and preparing for risks in the community, has brought about a good record of safety in our city.
We are proud of the long tradition of being prepared no matter when we are called to serve on a daily basis. Taking care of our community either by preventing losses, or mitigating the emergency once it has happened is our duty. This is one of the foundations we strive for as we create a world-class community where everyone is valued and respected.
I thank the community for supporting our fire department as we work together to create a safer community here in Tukwila.
Thank you for allowing me to serve.
Jay C. Wittwer, Fire Chief
