Apply for the People's Project Steering Committee
The People’s Project Steering Committee will help create a fair, inclusive process for the community to submit ideas and vote on which projects are funded. Committee members will receive a $50 gift card per meeting attended. We aim to reflect the diversity of Tukwila in this group. If more than 8 applications are received, final selections will be based on balancing representation across neighborhoods, languages, ages, and lived experiences.
Details
- Attend monthly committee meetings (approx. 1.5 hours each) between June and December 2025
- Help shape a fair, inclusive process for collecting ideas and holding a public vote
- Assist in promoting the project and encouraging community participation
- Participate in process evaluation – provide feedback to help improve the process
- Steering Committee members are expected to engage respectfully, collaborate in good faith, and follow any ground rules established by the group.
STEERING COMMITTEE REQUIREMENTS
- Be 16 years of age or older:
- Youth participation form required for persons under 18
- Background check required for persons 18 and older
- Live in the City of Tukwila
- Seeking to reflect the diversity of our community, bilingual applicants are encouraged
- Meeting attendance required in order to receive a gift card
- If the total gift card compensation reaches $600 or more, further documents may be needed, including a W-9 form which would require a Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
- Must not be running for, or currently serving in, a political office
- Complete the attached application and if you are 18+, the background check form.
- Check the box “Other/Special Committee” and write in “The People’s Project.”
- Drop off the completed application to Tukwila City Hall or Tukwila Community Center front desk or email to BoardsComms@tukwilawa.gov.
