Through CERT training\, individuals and organizations learn life-saving response skills to help each other until professionals arrive. \nCERT includes 21 hours of training\, plus a simulated disaster drill. Topics include the following: \n\nHazard Identification & Disaster Preparedness\nResponse Team Organization and Communication\nFire Safety and Suppression\nLight Search and Rescue\nSimple Triage and Rapid Treatment\nDisaster Medical Operations\nTerrorism Awareness\nDisaster Psychology and Emotional Impacts\nComprehensive Final Drill\n\nClasses run three Saturdays in a row\, September 30th\, October 7th\, and October 14th\, from 8am to 5pm each day\, and will include a Final Drill on the last day. SUMMARY:Community Police Academy Applications due Feb 23
DESCRIPTION:Now accepting applications for the Spring 2024 Community Police Academy! \nThe Community Police Academy is an opportunity for those who live or work in Tukwila to get an in-depth look at police operations. The program is designed to educate the community on the role of the police department while building and strengthening relationships. This is a free eight-week program\, with the final class being graduation. Classes cover various topics and roles within the Tukwila Police Department. Starting March 5th\, classes will be held in the Justice Center’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) from 6 pm to 8:30 pm on Tuesdays. Class size is limited\, and only those who preregister can attend. Parking is adjacent to the Justice Center on S 150th. \nApplication process and requirements\nTo participate\, you must be willing to commit to attending at least 6 of the 10 sessions. Priority is given to those who live or work in Tukwila city limits. To be eligible\, you must meet the following: \n•  Minimum age of 18 years\n•  Ability to pass a background check\n•  No prior felony convictions\n•  Must attend at least 8 of the ten classes\n•  Attendees who miss more than two classes will be asked to reapply to a later session \nOnly applicants who have successfully registered\, passed a background check and received confirmation of acceptance will be permitted to attend this academy. \nPlease submit completed applications by February 23rd. \nPlease email Brooke Lamothe at the Tukwila Police Department for an application at B.Lamothe@TukwilaWa.gov. \n  \n
