Healthy and thriving forests are vital to our community because they absorb and naturally filter rain water\, produce clean oxygen\, provide living spaces for wildlife\, and create a place for people to connect with the outdoors. \nIn order to help create healthy forests\, the work can include: \n\nRemoving aggressive weeds (like English Ivy or Himalayan Blackberry)\nMaintaining areas where these weeds have been removed\nPlanting trees and shrubs during the rainy season (often Oct.-Feb.)\n\nGroups\nIf you are coming as a group\, the group leaders are expected to have an active and integral role in our events. Please get in touch with volunteer@earthcorps.org before the event to make sure everything is in order. On the day of the event\, make yourself known to the staff (in bright yellow vests) and arrive early in order to meet your group members. \nAre you or anyone in your group under 18?\nYouth under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent\, guardian\, or responsible adult. This fall we will begin working will local residents\, businesses\, service providers\, and other stakeholders in implementing the community’s vision for the neighborhood. \nThe City is excited to announce the members of the  CNU Team who  will be coming to Tukwila to work with the community on implementation of the TIB goals and policies.  Check out who they are and  their specialties. \n \nHow should we make the community’s goals for Tukwila International Boulevard a reality? The dream for the area is to have a complete neighborhood and community that is thriving\, multi-cultural\, residential and business\, and is a vibrant place to live\, work\, shop and play. The neighborhood is safe\, walkable and a destination with an authentic main street. There is also an emphasis on attracting self-sustaining\, living wage employment opportunities. \nBring your ideas to the TIB Community Workshop. We’ll be making choices on where to put stores\, housing\, and offices; how high to allow buildings; how much parking should be provided and where it should be located.
