DESCRIPTION:Riverton Park is a beautiful community park with picnic tables\, a playground\, Gully Gardens P-Patch\, and a walking loop with a natural border that offers something for everyone. \nThe natural plant board of the park has largely established mature trees that support wildlife\, reduce pollutants in the air\, and help to bring shade on hot days. Unfortunately\, these trees are in danger due to English ivy\, which grows aggressively and chokes out native plants and trees. The good news is YOU ARE HERE to help; as a community\, we can save these trees and install a healthy native forest; plus\, it is a ton of fun! \nBucket watering the young forest will be a large part of this work party. \nAll tools\, materials\, and training will be provided at the start of the work party. \nAll ages OK \nClick here to register. \nWhat to Bring\nBring a full water bottle\, snacks for yourself\, weather-appropriate clothes\, and closed-toed shoes. DESCRIPTION:Join resident Forest Stewards and the Tukwila community to beautify and create a sustainable native habitat at Duwamish Hill Preserve. We will be removing young blackberries and clearing space for fall plantings. \nAll tools and training provided. \nAbout the Hill:\nThe unique ecosystems at the Duwamish Hill Preserve highlight oak savannahs\, camas prairie\, wet sedge meadow\, and the tule wetland. The hill itself is a geological wonder and is actually older than Mt. Rainier! \nAbout Duwamish Alive:\nOur primary goals are to: Promote a healthy\, functioning habitat in the Duwamish River Watershed by increasing and connecting habitat and addressing critical issues affecting the watershed’s health.
