SUMMARY:Duwamish Hill Preserve Work Party
DESCRIPTION:Restore the Duwamish Hill Preserve!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCome join us friends\, neighbors\, and volunteers along the  Green-Duwamish river for a day of environmental service! At the Duwamish Hill Preserve we will be tackling some invasive weeds to help native plants as they wake up for Spring! This is a great way to give back to your local community\, and also is an awesome opportunity to meet some new faces\, to get your hands dirty\, and to get outside and connect with the Green-Duwamish River! \nWhat to bring: Please dress for the weather because we will be working rain or shine! Boots or comfortable athletic shoes\, work clothes\, appropriate layers for rain and sun. Volunteers should also bring a refillable water bottle. Restoration training\, snacks\, tools\, and gloves will be provided. No experience necessary\, so make sure to bring along your friends\, family\, and neighbors! \nYouth volunteers: If you are under 18 and attending the event without a parent or guardian\, please come to the event with a Youth Waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Youth Waiver for Forterra Restoration Events \nTo RSVP\, email Alex Selvey at aselvey@forterra.org!\n  \nAbout the Property: In 2001\, Forterra\, the City of Tukwila\, and a local citizen group formed a partnership to work for the preservation of an undeveloped parcel of land on the Duwamish River. The property will be managed as a public open space preserve devoted to the interpretation of the site’s Native American cultural significance and other aspects of Duwamish River Valley natural and cultural history. The Hill is culturally significant for its association with southern Puget Sound Salish oral tradition and history\, as a key location in the stories collectively known as the “Epic of the Winds.”

SUMMARY:Duwamish River Work Party
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer with the Green Tukwila Partnership and spend a lovely afternoon along the Duwamish River clearing out invasive weeds along the shoreline. We’ll have a great view of an osprey nest and some occasional otter and bunny sightings while we work next to the river. We’ll provide the gloves\, tools and training! No experience necessary! \nVolunteers under the age of 18 should bring a signed Youth Waiver Form with them to the event. \nSee link to register:     https://forterra.org/event/help-restore-duwamish-river-shoreline \nThe Green Tukwila Partnership is a new partnership between the City of Tukwila\, non-profits like Forterra\, EarthCorps\, and the SCA\, and the Tukwila community\, to care for public parks and natural open space across the city. We will work to restore and maintain 53 different places in Tukwila over the next 20 years—and we need your help! By planting trees and other plants\, weeding\, and joining your neighbors outside\, you can make sure we have healthy\, safe\, and beautiful parks to enjoy into the future.

SUMMARY:Duwamish Shoreline Work Party
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for our annual spring Duwamish Alive event! Be one of hundreds of volunteers who come out to the Green-Duwamish river for a day of environmental service! \nAt the Duwamish Shoreline\,  we will be tackling some invasive weeds along the bank of the River\, and spreading mulch in hopes of keeping this habitat happy and healthy! We’ll have a great view of an osprey nest and some occasional otter and bunny sightings while we work next to the river. This is a great way to give back to your local community\, and is also an  awesome opportunity to meet some new faces\, to get your hands dirty\, and to get outside and connect with the Green-Duwamish River! \nInterested in volunteering with us for Duwamish Alive? Please register below so we know to expect you! \nWhat to bring: Please dress for the weather because we will be working rain or shine! Boots or comfortable athletic shoes\, work clothes\, appropriate layers for rain and sun. Volunteers should also bring a refillable water bottle; snacks and lunch will be provided\, so make sure to stick around! \nRestoration training\, tools and gloves will also be provided. No experience necessary\, so make sure to bring along your friends\, family\, and neighbors! \nYouth volunteers: If you are under 18 and attending the event without a parent or guardian\, please come to the event with a Youth Waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Youth Waiver for Forterra Restoration Events \nForterra is a proud partner of the Duwamish Alive Coalition\, which  is a collaborative effort of local communities\, municipalities\, non-profits and businesses within the Duwamish River Watershed to preserve and enhance habitat for people and wildlife towards improving the health of the Puget Sound.   The Coalition works to improve  the ecological health of our watershed through community engagement and volunteer-based habitat restoration. \nSee link to register: https://forterra.org/event/duwamish-alive-at-the-duwamish-shoreline-160416

Youth Waiver for Forterra Restoration Events \nAbout the Property: In 2001\, Forterra\, the City of Tukwila\, and a local citizen group formed a partnership to work for the preservation of an undeveloped parcel of land on the Duwamish River. The property will be managed as a public open space preserve devoted to the interpretation of the site’s Native American cultural significance and other aspects of Duwamish River Valley natural and cultural history. The Hill is culturally significant for its association with southern Puget Sound Salish oral tradition and history\, as a key location in the stories collectively known as the “Epic of the Winds.” \nForterra is a proud partner of the Duwamish Alive Coalition\, which  is a collaborative effort of local communities\, municipalities\, non-profits and businesses within the Duwamish River Watershed to preserve and enhance habitat for people and wildlife towards improving the health of the Puget Sound.   The Coalition works to improve  the ecological health of our watershed through community engagement and volunteer-based habitat restoration. \nSee link to register: https://forterra.org/event/volunteer-at-the-duwamish-hill-preserve-160416
