DESCRIPTION:Green Tukwila is restoring 138 acres of forest and open green spaces over the next 20 years. The only way to accomplish this goal is with the support of partners and volunteers. Thank you for being a part of the solution!\n\n\n\n\nGreen Tukwila is following Public Health Guidelines to keep volunteers and staff safe during work parties. \nWork parties are limited to 20 people. If you need to cancel let us know so we can open up the opportunity.   If work parties fill up we may open a second work party on the same day. \nAll participants must: \n\nWear a mask.\nSocial distance\, 6 feet away from all other households.\nPlease eat before attending the work party and bring your own gloves. Join the dedicated Friends of the Hill- a group of enthusiastic volunteers who steward the Duwamish Hill Preserve so that the Tukwila community can continue to enjoy this amazing community resource. Be part of keeping the urban forest healthy by removing harmful\, invaisve weeds that threaten the health of our urban forest. \nEveryone can help! All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary. We provide all of the tools and training needed.  So bring along your friends and family and get your hands dirty! \nIf you would like to RSVP for this event\, let us know at volunteer@forterra.org! \nWhen: Saturday\, May 16th; 10:00am – 1:00pm \nWhere: The Duwamish Hill Preserve (3800 S 115th St\, Tukwila\, WA 98168) \nWhere to park:  There’s a small parking lot on site\, and street parking available on 115th St. \nWhat to bring: Please dress for the weather because we will be working rain or shine! Boots or comfortable athletic shoes\, work clothes\, appropriate layers for rain and sun. Volunteers should also bring a refillable water bottle. Youth Waiver for Forterra Restoration Events can be found here. \nAbout the Property: In 2001\, Forterra\, the City of Tukwila\, and a local citizen group formed a partnership to work for the preservation of an undeveloped parcel of land on the Duwamish River. The property will be managed as a public open space preserve devoted to the interpretation of the site’s Native American cultural significance and other aspects of Duwamish River Valley natural and cultural history.
