DESCRIPTION:  \n          2019 CANDIDATE FILING TIMES / DEADLINES \n   BY MAIL:    April 29   –   May 17\, 4:30pm\, regardless of postmark \n   IN PERSON:      May 13\, 8:30am   –   May 17\, 4:30pm \n   ONLINE:      May 13\, 9:00am   –   May 17\, 4:00pm \n  \nInterested in helping guide the direction of your community?   If you have considered serving in public office\, the Mayor and three Council seats are up for election this year: \nMayor – currently held by Allan Ekberg \nPosition #2 – currently held by Kathy Hougardy \nPosition #4 – currently held by Dennis Robertson \nPosition #6 – currently held by Kate Kruller \n  \nTERM OF OFFICE   –   January 1\, 2020 to December 31\, 2023 \nCOUNCILMEMBER SALARY     –     $1\,250 per month (2019)\, plus certain medical benefits. \nTukwila City Councilmembers serve at large\, representing the City’s residents.   Council duties include reviewing\, studying\, discussing and deciding on policy and budget questions.   Interaction with members of the community involves public and personal meetings\, email or other written correspondence\, and phone conversations.     Councilmembers attend weekly Council meetings\, as well as meetings of standing committees and special meetings scheduled throughout the year. \nA candidate must be a registered voter and a resident of Tukwila for at least one year.   Candidates should have a working knowledge of the laws that regulate City government. \n\nELECTION DATES \nPrimary:   August 6\, 2019 \nGeneral:   November 5\, 2019 \n  \nMore information about 2019 election and campaign filing information can be found here. \nContact  King County Elections  for complete rules and requirements.
