SUMMARY:Tukwila Tree Giveaway
DESCRIPTION:2025 Tree Giveaway Orders Are Live Now!  \nTukwila residents can sign-up to receive 1-2 free trees through the annual Tukwila Tree Giveaway\, a program aimed at growing our urban forest. Tukwila has been a Tree City USA for 20+ years – thank you for helping grow our urban tree canopy! \nHow to get free trees: \n\nSelect the right tree for the right place.\n\nBrowse the tree information in the order form  to find a tree that suits your site. Verify there is adequate space for the tree to mature.\nAvoid underground and overhead utilities by ensuring you know where they are: gas\, internet\, water\, electricity\, sewer\, etc. We recommend you call 811\, the free service to help you locate utilities.\nTrees must be planted on private property in Tukwila city limits.\n\n\nComplete the online application by September 15th.\n\nWe will confirm your tree(s) and send information on how to plant them in September. \nSpecies are available on a first come\, first serve basis. Order sooner to ensure availability.\n\n\nPickup your tree(s) at Hazelnut Park on Saturday 10/4/25 between 10a-1p \n\nThere will be staff on site to walk through how to plant and care for your tree. \nYou will be responsible for bringing your tree home. Trees will be about 3′ – 7′ tall. \nIf you are not available on pickup day\, contact staff to determine if a prearranged alternative time is available for you to pickup.\n\n\nPlant your tree!\n\nFollow instructions in the How to Plant Guide and in our video below. Be sure to water your trees after they are in the ground! We will follow up after trees are distributed requesting photos and to provide tree care guidance. \nQuestions? \nIf you have any questions regarding the Tukwila Tree giveaway please call\, text\, or email City Arborist/Urban Environmentalist\, Heidi Watters at 206-839-6483 or Heidi.Watters@TukwilaWA.gov \n  \n \nAvailable Tree Species:

SUMMARY:Petition for Adjustment of Fire Benefit Charges Due Today
DESCRIPTION:Deadline to file a Petition for Adjustment of Fire Benefit Charges is January 31\, 2025 \n\n\n\nEffective January 1\, 2025 the City of Tukwila fully annexed our Fire Department into the Puget Sound Fire service area. This month\, property owners received a notice from Puget Sound Fire regarding the Fire Benefit Charge\, which is part of a two-part funding system that helps ensure growing communities maintain high quality fire and life safety services. The fee is included in your property tax payable to King County. \nAs part of the Fire Benefit Charge legislation\, property owners are afforded the opportunity to file a Petition for Adjustment of Fire Benefit Charges (FBC) each year.  Adjustments could include having a fire suppression system or other factors that might lower your fire risk and thus may possibly reduce what you pay for the Fire Benefit Charge. Information on the charge and how to file a petition for adjustments can be found on the Puget Sound Fire website. \nPetitions for adjustments must be filed no later than 4:30 P.M. January 31\, 2025.
