Gilliam Erosion Repair Project
Project Description
The project will repair erosion and stabilize streambank slopes along Gilliam Creek, upstream of the 66th Ave S roadway crossing. The 66th Ave S roadway has a 9-ft diameter culvert that conveys Gilliam Creek to the Green River, conveying stormwater drainage for much of Southcenter. Erosion occurred during past winter storms and eroded a portion of the 66th Ave S roadway prism at the culver inlet. The project will protect and prevent future storms from causing further damage.
Location
The project is located north of the three-way intersection of 66th Ave S, Tukwila Parkway, and Andover Park East
Project duration
Work started after Labor Day weekend and is expected to be substantially complete by the end of September. Site restoration and planting will occur in early October.
Traffic Impacts
The traveling public should expect minor traffic delays associated with lane closures during the month of September. Traffic signs provide advance warning on Southcenter Boulevard, Tukwila Parkway and Andover Park East. Traffic movement restrictions include right lane closures on the following streets.
- 66th Ave S – Southbound
- Tukwila Parkway – Westbound
