Construction Permits Portal

Construction permits are required for most building, renovation, or installation projects — decks, additions, remodels, new homes, and electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or right-of-way work. Some projects also need a land use permit.

Building projects in Tukwila must meet the Washington State Building Code, as adopted locally in Title 16 – Buildings and Construction, along with the city’s Title 18 – Zoning code and TMC 14.30 stormwater standards (based on the King County design manual). Public infrastructure and right-of-way work must also meet the city’s Infrastructure Design and Construction Standards and Title 11 – Right-of-Way Use.
