Meet Hazel and Filbert: Tukwila’s Newest Community Mascots

We’re so glad you found our page! We’re excited to be part of the City of Tukwila’s communications team and to help share all the great things happening in our community.

We’re lifelong Tukwila residents, and you’ll start seeing us throughout the community promoting the City and all the people, places and events that make Tukwila such a special place to live.

When we’re not highlighting the greatest city in the Puget Sound, you can find us living along the banks of the Duwamish River. And yes, our parents really did name us after the city we love!

A little more about us…

Hazel

Hi there! I was born and raised right here in Tukwila. After graduating from Foster High School, I used the Tukwila Promise program to attend Highline College before heading off to the University of Washington. Go Dawgs!

These days, I work as a digital communications specialist alongside my troublesome brother, Filbert. (Don’t worry, I keep him in line.)

I played soccer in high school and still find plenty of time to compete at Starfire Sports after work and on the weekends. Filbert will tell you he’s the better soccer player, but we all know who really wears the cleats in this family.

Filbert

Hey! Like my sister, I was born and raised in Tukwila. I graduated from Raisbeck Aviation High School and, like Hazel, used the Tukwila Promise program to attend Highline College. From there, I headed to Washington State University, where I studied engineering.

I also played soccer in high school and was one of the top players in King County. Hazel likes to remind everyone that she’s the better player, but I’ll let you decide.

These days, I’ve traded my soccer cleats for a pickleball paddle and have started playing at the Tukwila Community Center.

When I’m not playing pickleball or helping Hazel with our communications work, I’m usually exploring Tukwila and looking for our next adventure.
