Annual Overlay and Repair Program

The Overlay and Repair Program preserves and maintains the street structure in a safe and usable condition. Construction will include, but not be limited to pavement repairs, sidewalk improvements, signal improvements, and an asphalt overlay at seven locations citywide. This year, we added additional work such as small drainage, ADA improvements, Traffic Calming, and signal improvements.

This contract was awarded to Tucci & Sons as the lowest responsible bidder. We are working on executing this contract and beginning work by the middle of July. KPG is contracted out to provided construction management duties for this project. See below for the specific locations that will be worked on this summer/fall.

Project Status Update

Orillia Road & S. 200th St.

Tucci & Sons has been contracted by the City of Tukwila, to perform pavement restoration and signal improvements along Orillia Road in the area highlighted on the attached map.  During construction, traffic will be impacted by roadway grinding and paving as well as select improvements to the pedestrian crosswalks.  While some of this work will be performed during normal business hours, the grinding and paving will occur at night.

Minor lane restrictions should be in place during daytime operations.  Lane closures and detours will be required for grinding and paving.  Because the most disruptive activities will be outside of normal business hours, we expect only minor impact to traffic during this work.

Update as of 11/7/22:

  • Work on this site is complete with the exception of the final channelization which is weather dependent.  We anticipate completing this work at night once we get the appropriate weather conditions (dry and 50 degrees or above).

S. 144th St. & 46th Ave. S

During construction, traffic will be impacted by partial pavement removal, utility placement, and crosswalk adjustments. Various construction activities will require lane restrictions and alternating one way traffic.  Delays through the work zone should be anticipated.

37th Ave S between S 144th St. And S 140th St

During construction, traffic will be impacted by partial pavement removal, utility placement, repaving and lane striping activities.  Traffic will be restricted to local access only in this area during some construction activities.  Access will be completely restricted during grinding and paving.  Construction notices will be provided by the contractor prior to any road closures.

Update as of 11/7/22:

  • Work in most of these surface streets is complete with the exception of the final channelization and some rework, which is weather dependent.  We anticipate completing this work once we get the appropriate weather conditions (dry and 50 degrees or above).Drainage improvements are in place and should be fully functioning.  We have a few areas where we don’t like the final product and will be coming back to make minor adjustments prior to closeout.

44th Ave S and 46th Ave S along S 124th St

During construction, traffic will be impacted by partial pavement removal, ADA sidewalk improvements, minor utility work, and crosswalk adjustments. Various construction activities will require lane restrictions and alternating one way traffic.  Delays through the work zone should be anticipated.
