196th/200th Bridge Repair

Project Overview

Construction of the 196th/200th Street Bridge Repair Project consists of street improvements within the right-of-way of S 200th Street near the Green River, including the  removal and replacement of the concrete approach and other associated structures at the 196th/200th Street Bridge on the west side of the river near the boundary between the City of Tukwila and the City of Kent.

Timeline

This work is expected to have a two to three month active construction schedule  with the roadway closed to vehicular traffic for approximately 8 weeks beginning in early October.   Pedestrians and bike traffic will be accommodated through the work zone for the majority of the work, however this will not always be possible and  there will be detour routes posted for each phase of the project.

Please expect delays on the surface streets nearest the project, provide appropriate travel information to anyone traveling to or from businesses near the project during construction and follow appropriate detours to reach your destination.

We appreciate your patience as we complete this critical infrastructure repair and we will reopen the roadway as soon as it is safe to do so.

Project Status Update – November 27, 2019

As of 2:40 pm on November 27, 2019 the South 196th/200th Street Bridge is open to all vehicle traffic. All traffic control devices have been removed for the site and detour signs have either been bagged or removed.

The project is still ongoing with minor odds and ends that need to be addressed. The bridge will remain open during the   minor check list items that need to be addressed but a single lane may be closed to perform the minor work.
