Administrative Services

The Administrative Services department provides communications, human services, community engagement and human resources services to the Tukwila community. The department supports the work of other City departments in these efforts and leads inter-departmental efforts on a variety of special issues and projects, including the City’s Public Safety Plan.

It consists of:

  • Human Resources – Provides internal support services in the areas of classification/compensation, benefit administration, labor and employee relations, civil service, recruitment and hiring, performance management, organizational development, training and professional development.

  • Human Services – Helps connect Tukwila residents with a broad range of programs to meet a variety of social service needs. Some of these include access to food banks, healthcare assistance, counseling, housing stability supports, domestic violence services, and more, through partnerships and grants with local non-profit agencies.

  • Communications – Includes digital and/or print communications strategies targeting the media, the community, and the public. Digital communications include all digital forms of media, such as the website, social media, video production, and TukTV 21.   Print communications work includes issuing press releases and the bi-monthly Hazelnut Newsletter.

  • Community Engagement – Runs the Community Connectors program and future civic engagement projects. Tukwila’s Community Connectors Program improves outreach to communities historically underrepresented in civic processes by utilizing members from these communities to act as liaisons from their community to the City and civic processes.
