Annual Overlay and Repair Program
The Overlay and Repair Program preserves and maintains the street structure in a safe and usable condition. Construction will include, but not be limited to pavement repairs, sidewalk improvements, signal improvements, and an asphalt overlay at seven locations citywide. In addition to asphalt overlay this years project will include ADA improvements, and Traffic Calming improvements.
51st Avenue South, which becomes Macadam Road South, has been selected for this year’s pavement overlay due to its fair to marginal condition. In addition to its current state, Water District 125 recently completed a watermain replacement along most of the corridor and deferred final paving. The savings from that project will help fund this year’s overlay.
Project Updates – 06/19/26:
With final paving completed during the night shift on June 7, the 2025 Annual Overlay Project is now substantially complete. The contractor is working through remaining punch‑list items, including permanent striping—expected to take place over the next couple of weeks and requiring night work—and installing bridge seals where the new asphalt ties into the existing concrete bridge abutment.
PROJECT LIMITS:
From the SR 518 North on-ramp to 43rd Avenue South.
This is a narrow, winding two-lane road with few side streets. We appreciate your patience as crews work to complete the improvements. During paving, driveways along the route may experience temporary delays when fresh asphalt is placed between the driveway and the newly paved road.
Paving Schedule:
Dates will be posted here once confirmed.
Additional Work:
A small segment near Kilickitat Drive and the I-5 South on-ramp (approximately half a mile south) is also included in the project.
