Church by the Side of the Road Tiny House Village Community Meeting

January 22 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) is a nonprofit provider of affordable housing and tiny house villages in the Puget Sound region. They currently operate two tiny house villages, Riverton Park Village and Miracle Temple Village, in Tukwila. They will be holding a Community Meeting for the new Church by the Side of the Road Tiny House Village, at 3455 S. 148th St, Tukwila, WA 98168.

Thursday, January 22nd at 6:30 PM
Church by the Side of the Road, located at 3455 S. 148th St.
Parking is available at Church by the Side of the Road.
Refreshments will be available prior to the meeting.

During the meeting, attendees will hear from Pastor Proctor, LIHI staff, and representatives from the City of Tukwila about the village’s operations plan. They wish to hear your thoughts and to answer your questions.

Church by the Side of the Road Village will operate as an enhanced 24/7 shelter, providing a pathway to housing for families with children, singles, and couples. The village will include 40 tiny houses. Each tiny house measures 8’x12’ (the size of a small bedroom), and includes the following features: windows, a door, electricity, smoke detector, insulation, heat, AC, a bed, furnishings, and a welcome kit.

The village will include staff offices, a community kitchen, hygiene facilities, and a laundry room. Clients will participate in comprehensive case management in order to obtain identification, apply for income support, and access healthcare, supportive services, employment, and housing. The site will be fully fenced with a security check-in office to ensure privacy and security for program participants.

LIHI believes that tiny house villages are a creative and effective solution in ending homelessness for hundreds more people. They are continuing their partnership with the City of Tukwila and King County to help our neighbors most in need. If you have any questions or comments, please contact LIHI’s Community Engagement Manager, Marta Kidane at marta.kidane@lihi.org or 206-858-0734.
