Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony

May 12 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

May 15th is nationally recognized as Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week containing the 15th is recognized as Police Week.

This year, Police Week is May 10th  – May 16th.  We will be having a ceremony in observance of Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day on Tuesday, May 12th, at 9:00 am.   The ceremony will take place at the flag pole in front of City Hall.

Please come and join the observance to remember our fallen brothers and sisters in law enforcement.

Peace Officer Memorial Day was established in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15 as a day to honor federal, state, and local law enforcement officers who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty. Over time, the observance grew into what is now known as National Police Week, held annually during the week of May 15. Police Week began informally as gatherings of law enforcement officers, survivors, and supporters, and later expanded through the efforts of organizations such as the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and Concerns of Police Survivors. Today, it includes memorial services, ceremonies, educational events, and opportunities for families and agencies across the country to come together to remember fallen officers and support one another.

We hope to see you all there.
