Meet the Board Members:

Robin Boland 

Position 1

Appointed: 1/9/2023 

Robin Boland has been a Tukwila resident since 2022 and is a lifelong King County resident. Robin has loved libraries since childhood and believes that libraries are an essential resource for our communities. She has many fond memories of spending hours in the ‘old’ downtown Seattle library’s children’s department, among other locations. She has an undergraduate degree in literature and a master’s degree in Library & Information Science. Robin has worked at the Seattle VA since 2006 in research administration and hopes to continue that rewarding career in the future.  

Steve Miller

Steve Miller has lived in Tukwila since 2002. He is a retired network security engineer and now performs as a musician and is an independent recording artist. Steve is a lifelong, voracious reader with a passion for learning and education for all. He holds an Associate in Applied Science in Local Area Network Support and Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Computer Information Systems,  a Master of Science in Management Information Systems, and a Master of Business Administration. Steve also enjoys fishing, hunting, and serving his community.

Crystal Lyons

Crystal Lyons’ family moved to Seattle in 1989 and settled in Tukwila in 1990. Crystal loves the diversity of Tukwila!  All three of her children and one grandchild attended school in Tukwila. She worked at the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic for 25 years and retired in 2023. In her words, “I have had a lifelong love of books. While at the Odessa Brown Clinic, I was in charge of the Reach Out and Read program. We provided age-appropriate books for patients.”  Crystal has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from City University.  She loves to crochet, watch movies, and care for her 45 houseplants in her free time.

Cynthia Chesak

Cynthia Chesak has been a Tukwila resident for the past 47 years.  She was an AP English teacher at Foster High School for 34 years.  She earned her B.A. in English and Theatre from la Universidad de Mexico, and her Master’s in theatre from the University of Texas at El Paso.  She earned her teaching certificate from the University of Washington.  She believes that reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.
