Summer is the busy season for the City of Tukwila’s Parks & Recreation Department, which makes it that much more appropriate that July 15 is Park and Recreation Professionals Day.
Some examples of the commitment and incredible work of our Parks & Recreation staff include:
- Our recreation staff is busy engaging our diverse participants (youth, teens, adults and seniors) with a variety of activities including camps, the playground program, wellness and enrichment activities, senior programs and events, and facility rentals at the Tulwila Community Center and park shelters.
- Our parks maintenance staff is caring for our beautiful parks in preparation for the re-launching of our See You In the Park summer event series and daily park visitors. They’re also extremely busy keeping up with routine maintenance and working on the maintenance backlog that has come with the past couple of years.
- Our golf maintenance and pro shop staff are keeping busy making sure the course is ready for daily golfers, tournament play and the relaunch of our lessons program. Check out the redesign and relaunch of the new Foster Golf Links
We are not alone in recognizing the important work that Parks & Recreation staff do. Every year the National Recreation & Park Association marks each July as Park & Recreation Month. In honor of this, Tukwila Mayor Allan Ekberg formally recognized the month in our city and the integral role staff play in the health of our residents.
