A strike of the Western Washington Crane Operators and other workers is currently impacting all City of Tukwila road construction projects

UPDATE: The strike is now over and work has continued on City construction projects.

A strike of the Western Washington Crane Operators and other workers is currently impacting all City of Tukwila road construction projects (42nd Avenue S, 53rd Avenue S, and the Boeing Access Road Bridge Rehabilitation). Until the labor agreement is settled, all of the City’s projects are affectively stopped and no work is being performed.

Western Washington crane operators and some other workers recently rejected a new union contract and are now on strike. The strike affects tower cranes, concrete pumpers, dirt work, pavers, hoisting and materials handlers, and other heavy equipment operators on job sites in the Puget Sound region from King County north to Whatcom County, the Olympic Peninsula, and Central Washington.

The City will keep residents informed as to when the labor dispute is resolved and construction starts up again on City projects.

We appreciate your patience during this time,
