Last week, the Mayor and City Council sent a joint letter to the Port of Seattle regarding the SEPA Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) review for near-term construction projects at Sea-Tac Airport. It’s important for our region to have a safe, reliable and functional airport. The benefits of Sea-Tac Airport extend throughout the region and across the state, but South King County communities continue to bear a disproportionate share of the impacts associated with airport operations. As part of the SEPA EIS review, the Mayor and City Council are asking the Port of Seattle to conduct additional analysis of these impacts and ensure the concerns of South King County communities are fully considered. We support a strong and successful airport. We also believe the communities that live with its impacts deserve to have their voices heard.
