South 119th Pedestrian Bridge to be Closed for Repairs

The City of Tukwila, along with the support from King County maintenance crews, will be correcting some deficiencies on the South 119th Pedestrian Bridge over the Duwamish River.

The work to be performed by maintenance staff will remove and repair the girder top rot by timber replacement and cleaning and filling rot with epoxy putty. In addition, the deck will be cleaned, leveled, and covered with an epoxy to seal the timber and to provide a substrate to adhere a non-slip aggregate.

During construction, the bridge will be closed to pedestrian use.   Residents in the area are encouraged to use alternate routes during this period.

Construction is anticipated to begin on September 19 and be completed by October 5.   This work is weather dependent and may change if inclement weather occurs.
