On Saturday, December 14, 2019, staff and volunteers with Tukwila Parks and Recreation hosted the annual Spirit of Giving Family Event at the Tukwila Community Center. This annual event is made possible by several generous individuals, businesses, and community organizations. Over 425 Tukwila children and their caregivers were invited and welcomed to the event.
Thanks to the generosity of contributors a variety of gifts, experiences, and essential items were collected and distributed to families facing a variety of challenges – ranging from homelessness to severe financial insecurity. Tukwila Parks and Recreation staff worked closely with the community to collect items which added up to a grand value of (drumroll) $55,025! This accomplishment is the result of kindness coming together to serve the community we get work in, play in, and call home.
