Tukwila Unites for the 2026 World Cup

The world’s biggest soccer tournament is coming to the Puget Sound region—and the City of Tukwila, the epicenter of soccer in the Pacific Northwest, is ready to celebrate. With six matches set to be played at Lumen Field, Tukwila is joining the excitement by hosting a citywide lineup of activities and local experiences throughout the tournament season, running June 11 through July 19.

Tukwila invites residents and visitors alike to explore everything the city has to offer while cheering on their favorite teams. Tukwila will host free events including a block party, a tournament viewing lounge, and watch parties to compliment the City’s many diverse dining, shopping and entertainment options.

“In Tukwila, soccer has always been more than a game, it’s a pathway. It’s where young players first fall in love with the sport, where talent is developed, and where collegiate and national team players have passed through on their journey to the world stage,” said Mayor Thomas McLeod. “As the World Cup comes to our region, the City of Tukwila proudly steps forward as the Pacific Northwest’s hub for soccer fans through Tukwila26. This initiative showcases not only our strength as a soccer community, but also who we are as a global city—welcoming, diverse, and proud to celebrate the world right here at home.”

As the home of Starfire Sports, Tukwila has a rich soccer history in the Pacific Northwest. More than one million visitors come to the city each year to participate in, watch, and enjoy the sport. Starfire Sports currently serves as the training ground for Seattle Reign FC and previously hosted Seattle Sounders FC before the club relocated its training facility to nearby Renton.

The City will host the Tukwila United Viewing Lounge – a free family-friendly tournament viewing lounge on the second floor of Westfield Southcenter. The lounge opens on June 11 at 11:00, featuring the opening match between Mexico and South Africa. The viewing lounge will be open for most soccer matches during the two-month tournament.

The signature event will be the Tukwila United Block Party on Saturday, June 13 from noon to 9:00 P.M. The FREE block party will be family friendly and feature music, dancing, soccer match viewing, family activities, food trucks, and beer garden for the 21+ attendees.
