Councilmember Kate Kruller

Council Position No. 5

Term of office: January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2029

Kate previously served on the Tukwila City Council for three terms between 2012 – 2023 and served on the Tukwila School District Board of Directors in 2024 and 2025. She is currently the Chair of the Tukwila Council Planning & Community Development Committee and is a member of the Tukwila Council Transportation & Infrastructure Services Committee.  Regionally, Kate serves on the King County Emergency Management Advisory Committee, Sound Cities Public Issues Committee, and the Water Resource Inventory Area (WRIA) 9 Management Committee. WRIA9 is responsible for Green/Duwamish River and Central Puget Sound,

Education and Profession: Kate currently works as an Information Technology Manager at the King County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, a Master of Business Administration degree in Engineering/Technology Management and holds a Project Management Professional (PMP)credential from the Project Management Institute.

About: Kate lived and worked in Tukwila for many years and became a homeowner in the community in 1992. She also experienced unique opportunities to live and work in the world community – first as a media relations emissary working to improve eye care in developing countries with ORBIS International, and again in the international business and trade space under the auspices of the Washington Council on International Trade.

Interests: Bicycling, sailing, hiking/camping, swimming, traveling, volunteering, amateur radio, along with exploring our beautiful green spaces and waterways with her Golden Retriever, “Wila.”

Community Service: President -Tukwila Children’s Foundation, is on the King County Executive Board and Board of Directors for the Salvation Army, and is a member of Tukwila Historical Society, Friends of Duwamish working at the Duwamish Preserve, Tukwila/SeaTac Rotary member, Tukwila Emergency Communications Team (TEC Team), Community Emergency Response team (CERT), Project Management Institute (PMI) – Puget Sound Chapter Professional Association. Kate continues her support of the Tukwila Pantry Food Bank for the past 14 years.
