Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training is a 6-week program consisting of 20 hours of classroom education and hands-on practice in topics including:

  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Fire Safety
  • Basic First Aid
  • Disaster Medical Skills
  • Light Search & Rescue
  • Disaster Psychology

Why CERT Matters

When disasters happen, professional responders are likely to be overwhelmed with all the requests for help and may not be able to meet the needs of all Tukwila residents for hours or a few days following a disaster.

Residents may need to serve as their own “first responders” during this critical time when help isn’t available. CERT Training provides the skills necessary to take care of yourself, your family and your neighborhood safely and effectively.
