Senior Hiker

Tukwila Trailers Women’s Hiking Group

The Tukwila Trailers hiking group is happy to announce that we will be able to provide transportation again for our hikes with a limited number of participants. This group meets Mondays at the Tukwila Community Center, rain or shine, and departs at 8:45 a.m.

FITNESS CENTER

This space includes circuit equipment, free weights, treadmills, stair stepper recumbent bike, and an upright bike and ellipticals.

If you live in Tukwila and are 55 years of age or older you can work out in our Fitness Room for FREE Monday – Friday from 6:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and Saturdays 7:30a.m – 12:30 p.m.

If you are a veteran of any age that lives in King County you may obtain a FREE fitness pass good until December 31, 2023. This program is sponsored by the King County Veteran’s, Seniors and Human Service Levy.

When: Monday & Wednesdays, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
SAIL is an evidence-based fall prevention fitness program for adults 65 and older. Performing exercises that improve strength, balance and flexibility is the single most important activity adults can do to stay active and reduce their chances of falling. The entire class curriculum of activities and education in the Stay Active and independent for Life program has proven to help improve strength and balance, if done regularly.

Fitness Drumming: More Info

March to the beat of your own drum with one of the latest and most fun fitness trends! Drum Fitness can be done sitting or standing and takes a simple movement – drumming – and turns it into a full-body workout that will leave you smiling, sweating, and feeling great. It brings together drumsticks, an exercise ball, and a stand to create one of the most fun workouts you’ll ever do. Using the exercise ball as your drum, and mixing in fun moves, drum fitness turns keeping a rhythm into a workout you won’t want to stop. All fitness levels are welcome!

Silver Sneakers Program for Muscle Strength and Range of Movement: More Info

When: Tuesdays, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m., and Thursdays, 8 a.m. – 9 a.m.
Designed to increase muscle strength, range of movement, and improve activities for daily living. Low impact training suitable for all fitness levels, a chair may be used for seated exercises and standing support. Class can be modified depending on fitness levels.

Beginning Line Dancing: More Info

Instructor: Suzanne Simmons
When: Tuesdays, 11:15 a.m. – Noon
Line dancing is a great form of low impact exercise where participants will learn repeated dance steps that follow a pattern to fun music.  Line Dancing will increase balance and flexibility as well as improve strength, muscle function, and cardiovascular heart heath. Dances may include the Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Macarena and more!

Functional Strength Training: More Info

Instructor: Jocelyn Shelby
When: Wednesdays, 8 a.m. – 9 a.m.
Learn how to move your muscles to improve posture, balance, core strength, coordination, and range of motion. This class aims to increase energy and strength to perform daily activities with minimal pain and injury. Participants can expect standing and floor exercises.

Soft Style Kung Fu for Seniors: More Info

When: Thursdays, 1:00pm – 2:00pm

Instructor: Ricky T.

Students will develop better coordination , balance, strength, and flexibility through traditional breathing and movement exercises.

Open Play Volleyball for 50+ $5 Drop in or 10 Visits for $30

Mondays 9:30 – 11:30AM and Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Players can drop in to play volleyball, practice skills, and exercise. No experience necessary! Call TCC for updated schedule, some black out days occur during the summer months or for large rentals.
