Amplify Special Events
Visitors will be here for World Cup matches but they will have time for more than just soccer. Their friends and family may want to do more, too. Special events create opportunities for more customers and here are some ideas:
1) Build on special events happening in our area. The City of Tukwila will be hosting watch parties and partnering with Westfield Southcenter for watch parties and soccer themed events. You could attract customers to your business on those days by amplifying and coordinating your promotions and specials with those special events. Those events are still being planned. Check back on the Experience Tukwila event calendar or subscribe to receive updates.
2) Host your own special events. Hold a soccer themed karoke night, a soccer themed movie night, a costume party, a soccer ball kicking contest, show old World Cup videos, or any other fun, unique experience.
Tips About Permits for Special Events
If your special event includes activities that are much larger or different than your normal business operations, you may need permits or permissions. Some examples are:
1) Food Permits. Preparing and selling food may require a permit from the Department of Public Health Seattle-King County.
2) City Permits. We encourage our businesses to hold special events for the World Cup. Even so, installing structures and large tents or changing electrical, mechanical, or plumbing fixtures may require permits from the City of Tukwila to ensure the safety of your employees and the public. Closing city streets or sidewalks, or holding events with noise or limited parking, may also require City permits. For permit questions, please contact us at Business@TukwilaWA.gov.
3) Property Owner Permission. If you don’t own the property where your business is located, you may want to get permission from your property owner before hosting a special event.
4) Let’s Play SEA26 Community Brand. We highly encourage you to use the Let’s Play SEA26 community brand because it will help visitors quickly understand your event is related to the World Cup. Visit Seattle created this brand for all of us to use but they ask us to follow their guidelines . Note: FIFA World Cup 2026TM is a trademarked brand and we encourage you to follow FIFA’s official watch party guidelines before using any of their terms or logos.
If you will have special offers or host special events or watch parties, we encourage you to let us know at Business@TukwilaWA.gov so we can help promote your business!
