Tukwila Tree Giveaway

🌳 2026 orders are now open — apply by September 15.

Tukwila residents can receive 1–2 free trees through the annual Tree Giveaway, a program aimed at growing our urban forest. Tukwila has been a Tree City USA for 20+ years — thank you for helping grow our urban tree canopy!

How to get free trees

  1. Choose the right tree for the right place.
    • Browse the tree options in the order form and verify there is adequate space for the tree to mature.
    • Check for underground and overhead utilities — call 811 for the free utility locating service.
    • Trees must be planted on private property within Tukwila city limits.
  2. Complete the online application by September 15.
    • Species are available first come, first served — order early for best selection.
    • You’ll receive an order confirmation with your pickup window in late September.
  3. Pick up your tree(s) at Hazelnut Park on Saturday, October 10.
    • Last name A–K: 10 a.m.–noon  |  Last name L–Z: noon–2 p.m.
    • Staff will be on site to walk you through planting and care.
    • You are responsible for transporting your tree home. Trees will be approximately 3–7 feet tall.
    • Can’t make it? Contact staff to arrange an alternative time. Note: uncollected trees may be reallocated.
  4. Plant your tree! Follow the How to Plant Guide and the video below. Water your tree after planting — we’ll follow up with care guidance and to request photos.
