Special Event Permits

A Special Event Permit is required for temporary events on private property or public rights-of-way that fall outside a business’s normal daily operations — festivals, outdoor sales, amplified music events, block parties, organized walks/runs, and similar gatherings.

Apply via Permit Center Portal

When is a permit required?

You need a Special Event Permit for:

  • Temporary events on private property not part of the business’s regular operations — festivals, sidewalk/parking lot sales, musical performances with amplified sound, events with vendors, etc.
  • Events requiring a street closure, right-of-way closure, or trail use — block parties, organized walks, runs, or bike rides, etc.
For events at City facilities (Tukwila Community Center, City Parks/Shelters) — weddings, group parties, meetings, picnics — contact Tukwila Parks and Recreation at (206) 767-2322.
