Tukwila Tree Giveaway

2025 Tree Giveaway Orders Are Now Closed, 2026 Orders Will Open in June! 

Tukwila residents can sign-up to receive 1-2 free trees through the annual Tukwila Tree Giveaway, a program aimed at growing our urban forest. Tukwila has been a Tree City USA for 20+ years – thank you for helping grow our urban tree canopy!

How to get free trees:

1. Select the right tree for the right place.
   • Browse the tree information in the order form  to find a tree that suits your site. Verify there is adequate space for the tree to mature.
   • Avoid underground and overhead utilities by ensuring you know where they are: gas, internet, water, electricity, sewer, etc. We recommend you call 811, the free service to help you locate utilities.
   • Trees must be planted on private property in Tukwila city limits.
2. Complete the online application when the annual order process is open:
   • We will confirm your tree(s) and send information on how to plant them in September. 
   • Species are available on a first come, first serve basis. Order sooner to ensure availability.
3. Pickup your tree(s):
   • There will be staff on site to walk through how to plant and care for your tree. 
   • You will be responsible for bringing your tree home. Trees will be about 3′ – 7′ tall. 
   • If you are not available on pickup day, contact staff to determine if a prearranged alternative time is available for you to pickup.
4. Plant your tree!

Follow instructions in the How to Plant Guide and in our video below. Be sure to water your trees after they are in the ground! We will follow up after trees are distributed requesting photos and to provide tree care guidance.
