How does Code Enforcement work?

The Tukwila Municipal Code sets the rules for private property conditions across the city. When a complaint is received, a Code Enforcement Officer investigates. If a violation is found, a case is opened and we work with the property owner to reach compliance.

Common complaints include junk vehicles, garbage and debris, illegal signs, roosters, unpermitted construction, and overgrowth. Compliance is typically reached through communication and collaboration.
