The People's Project - Your idea. Your voice. Your Tukwila.

What is the People’s Project?
How would you spend $100,000 to improve Tukwila? The People’s Project is Tukwila’s first-ever Participatory Budgeting (PB) initiative, giving residents and community members the power to decide how to invest in our community. We’ve set aside funds for improvements and we want your ideas.
Complete the Idea Submission Form below to describe your idea – Why is it important? What problem do you hope to solve? Who does your idea benefit? The online form is available in English, Amharic, Burmese, Portuguese, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Participate and make sure your neighbors know about this exciting opportunity!

What $100,000 Can Fund in Tukwila’s People’s Project
While this amount can’t build a new park or repave a major street, it can deliver small but meaningful projects that neighbors will see and enjoy.
What $100,000 Can Do (Examples)
- Art: Murals, sculptures, mosaics, or artistic landscaping that brighten public spaces.
- Education/Historical: Small exhibits, plaques, or storytelling projects that celebrate Tukwila’s diverse history and culture.
- Health & Wellness: Water fountains, community garden plots, or outdoor exercise equipment.
- Recreation: Benches, picnic tables, play features, basketball hoops, or minor court upgrades.
- Safety: Crosswalk improvements, flashing beacons, speed humps, stop signs, curb ramps, or pedestrian lighting.
What $100,000 Can’t Do
- Construct new buildings, bathrooms, or entire parks.
- Repave major roads or install new traffic signals.
- Fund multi-year programs or permanent staff.
- Cover citywide or large, multi-site projects.
Keep in Mind
- Think small but visible — projects residents can point to and be proud of.
- Be specific — focus on one location or clear need.
- Aim for impact — improvements that benefit many and last for years.
- Be imaginative — don’t feel limited by these examples! If you have a creative idea that fits within $100,000, we want to hear it.
With your input, $100,000 can spark creative, lasting improvements across Tukwila.
