Building and Electrical Inspections

All Building and Electrical inspections must be scheduled online prior to 3:00 PM for next day, or for the next available inspection. For detailed instructions on how to schedule your building or electrical inspection, please click on the link below. To request inspections during OFF HOURS, please fill out this form.

How to Schedule a Building or Electrical Inspection

Planning Inspections

Planning inspections are scheduled using the CONSTRUCTION PERMITS PORTAL above. Please submit planning inspection requests at least three days in advance. Planning staff will coordinate to confirm the inspection and may request to reschedule based upon staff availability.

Fire Inspections

To request a Fire Inspection for a Construction Permit, please call our Fire inspection request line at (206) 575-4407. All Fire inspection requests are not scheduled or confirmed until the Fire Inspector has returned your call and scheduled an appointment with you. We will make every effort to return your call within 2 business days to schedule your inspection.


Sign Inspections

Planning inspections consist of the applicant taking a picture of the installed sign and uploading a PDF file of it. Once the PDF has been uploaded, notify staff at

Building inspection requests for sign permits are scheduled on-line through the permit portal as all other Building inspections.

Schedule a Pre-Application

The pre-application process is to provide the City’s Development Review Team an opportunity to review the nature of the proposed development, application and permit requirements, fees, review process and schedule, applicable plans, policies, and regulations. It is not an exhaustive review of all potential issues and shall not bind or prohibit the City’s future application or enforcement of all applicable laws.

Pre-application reviews are based on the information available at the time of review. If additional information becomes available during review of an application, additional conditions or studies may be required.

The quality, accuracy, and depth of the information provided to you, the applicant, within the preapplication memo is substantially dependent upon the quality, accuracy and depth of information submitted by you to the City.
